Anonymous asked: I'm Gen Y and I use the word 'gay' as meaning stupid. It's not in reference to homosexuality, it's a reference to gay as in 'don we now our gay apparel': kind of a 'oh joy' in a sarcastic sense.
Homosexuals stole the word 'gay' in the first place....we're just stealing it back...or something.

I understand you don’t intend to be insensitive but think about it from our point of view; you are effectively equating gay with stupid. Surely you can see why that can be considered derogatory.
