For this reason should moderation be compulsory in subjects?
I don’t think there is a protocol/precedent for that as usually moderation by the the unit coordinator would fix any unfair disparity between markers. While moderation isn’t compulsory (I don’t think), in my experience every unit coordinator does engage in some moderation before assignments are returned to students.
